The weather was beautiful during CNY break so we took advantage and went outside. We wanted to bike around Tai Mei Tuk, but couldn't find parking near where we wanted to rent bikes so we kept driving and decided to go on a hike instead. We drove to Nam Chung and went up from the end of the Wilson Trail to a pavilion with a view of China after walking by old villages and birds enjoying the muddy marshy area. After, we walked back down the way we came and drove back to have an alfresco lunch, lucky to find a spot right in front of the restaurant!

This village looked pretty empty...

Trying to be the letter H on the helicopter landing pad.

Which way to go?

The island in Starling Inlet behind Paul and Alex is a spoonbill habitat and you can see a bit of Sha Tau Kok, China behind that. There's a retired aircraft carrier that has been turned into a museum there. Look for the photos of the view from the pavilion in the slideshow below or check out the photos on their own in the album on Picasa click here

Cadence doesn't look excited by the flowers on display!

Didn't want anything too "perfumy" so got some red begonias and berry-stalk something (propped up near the sofa) or other and bamboo (on the coffee table in the background) and you can still see the poinsettia in the window, too!

Alex and Jeremy don't look too thrilled about shopping for flowers...

Chinese New Year flower market, home décor, and Alex the lion dancer?!

Alex's Mandarin group did a Chinese Martial Art demonstration for the special assembly and after we had a fun party in class with games including a chopstick race.

Chinese New Year party at school
In preparation for next year's overnight camp experience at school, Ryan needed to practice sleeping away from home... finally fell asleep on the couch and up early the next day for a little gaming before breakfast!

Ryan’s first sleepover!
After we got back from Taipei we still had vacation time left and got together with friends for hotpot dinners and biking... Here are photos of the Thompsons, Siews, Williams, Cheungs, Mary and the boys, and Ryan...

It was a few short weeks until Chinese New Year break when we got to see the Gibsons and went walking around Chinese University with Alessandra and kids (some photos swiped from Wai's SmugMug - link on the right side of the blog)

Hey, a free-standing McD in HKG - looks like back in the U.S.
